Heydi is originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico but grew up in Bloomington, Indiana when she moved to the U.S. at the age of nine. As a two-time Indiana University alumna, she has a B.A. in Sociology and Spanish, with a minor in Latino Studies and a certificate in Public Health as well as a Master’s in Public Health with a concentration in Behavioral, Social and Community Health. She is a health policy aficionado, foodie, work out junkie, full-blown Star Wars Nerd, and a Phenomenal Latina. She stands for social justice, equality and equity in this world.
She hopes with Project Period to empower women and girls to live their lives to the fullest by eradicating the burden of seeking basic necessities such as female hygiene products. By providing these products to women and girls in the central Indianapolis area, she hopes the gap due to lack of access continues to close.
